It took a while to find the village of Montallery but the outstanding Chablis that we tasted at the cellars of Claude and Jean-Louis Chevallier were more than worth the journey. One glance at their immaculate cellars and it became clear that the brothers were fastidious about cleanliness and extremely serious about Chablis. The village level Chablis only sees stainless steel and the crisp, pure flavours and minerality come solely from the soil and the grape - this is superb 'basic' Chablis. We recommend anyone who hasn't tried a Chablis for a while, let alone a decent one, to buy a case of this wine - it will make a believer out of you again. br /br / b2007 Petit Chablis/bbr /Petit Chablis is normally slightly lighter in style than Chablis but the 2007 is a touch broader than one might expect. Classic stony Chablis flavours with crisp Granny Smith apple fruit.
