Dont just give chocolate this Easter, give clues

There are lots of ways to add some extra fun to your kids hunt for chocolates this Easter. So heres another handy tip for you to try.

Last time we spoke about getting your kids hearts pumping, by getting them to complete active challenges. Well, why not get their brains working too, with an Easter treasure hunt involving clues?

Its more suited to older children, and its a great way to enhance their imagination and problem solving skills. Perhaps you could throw in some riddles or rhymes, which hint where they should look next. Or just random riddles that they have to complete in order to be given directions that will lead them onto the next set of eggs.

To make it easier for smaller kids, why not try linking the clues to their favourite childrens characters.

Tie in some clues with your treasure hunt this Easter, and your kids will get an extra dose of excitement and pride when they get the answers right, making the chocolate they find taste even better, because theyve earned it.

Reward good sports with chocolate this Easter

Easter is fast approaching, and for many parents its the perfect time to not only teach their children the meaning to this day, but to also have lots of chocolate-fuelled fun!

As well as decorating eggs, and making Easter bonnets, another popular Easter activity is an Easter egg hunt, where children, and sometimes adults too, go on the hunt for chocolates.

One way you can make your chocolate treasure hunt extra fun this Easter is with a sporty treasure hunt.

With all that adrenaline pumping round their bodies, and probably sugar too, your kids may have excess energy to burn. So why not make your treasure hunt a sporty one, by throwing in active challenges like running, dancing and star jumps (a bit like a kids version of the Gladiators TV show)?

When they complete their challenge, reward them with some Easter chocolate. You could even make it competitive if the kids are a bit older, by giving out extra chocolates for the fastest runner, best dancer and so on.

With all this running around, theyll burn off all that chocolate in no time!

Chocolate - perfect fuel for athletes

With the Olympics coming up, many people are looking at what the top athletes eat, for top tips on how to achieve a healthier, more nutritious lifestyle. But if you were thinking an athletes diet is all about eating lots of spinach and drinking raw eggs, think again.

Long distance runner Paula Radcliffe is reported to eat chocolate every day in the month leading up to a big race (but only two or three squares, mind).

Then on the big day, Paula swaps to healthier alternatives like porridge or a banana for breakfast.

However, some people argue that many athletes dont need to be too concerned with their diets, as athleticism is in their genes.

Take Dinah Gould for instance. She is not an athlete as sorts, but she is 100-years-old, and she will be one of the torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame through the streets of London this summer.

This fit and healthy centurion puts her fitness, and her ripe old age, down to doing regular yoga, and eating lots of chocolate: "Im a chocoholic and good health is in my genes - my mother lived until she was 102."

So there you go. If you want to compete in the next Olympics, you better start stocking up on your chocolates now!
